Default Quilt used as insulation on sliding glass doors

In November I won the block of the month drawing at my guild meeting...sixteen Table for Four blocks, each 14". I loved the colors and assembled the top immediately using fabrics from my stash. And then it sat.

Recently we thought we would try using a quilt to insulate against the drafts coming through our sliding glass doors. This quilt would be a tad small (and no leftover fabric) but close enough. Using Hobbs Thermore batting, I quilted in the ditch (might get around to adding more later).

We used a tension rod (no center support) and clip-on curtain rings, so we can pull it aside when we want the daylight to come in.

Love your quilt and great idea as an insulator from the cold drafts!! We should use our quilts for more than bed quilts and folded away in storage!!

that is great!!! I made a quilted curtains(quilts with batting inside and I just added loops at the top to attach to the curtain rod) for a friend. She was so happy with it. I have two big windows in my livingroom. I'm planning on doing the same thing for my windows.

If you find you get lots of sun and are worried about the damage, you can buy some of the backing that is used on curtains at places like Hancock Fabrics. Don't actually attach it to the quilt, but slip it into the clips. The rubberized side should face the back of the quilt. That will help even more with drafts but will definitely keep the light out.
I really like the quilt; the colors are beautiful. I haven't seen that pattern before.
