    Default Comparing Juki models

I'm considering adding a Juki and looking at the 2010Q v the HZL F600. The 600 is computerized, but looks as though the harp space is not as big as the 2010. I actually have a Bernina Aurora 430, which is great....but I'd like to have a nice quilting machine with a larger harp....and more than just one or two alphabets. I like stitching words and quotes in my bindings. The HZL has a nice script as one of its alphabets. But the JUKI 2010 has all that area to FMQ.

Decisions, decisions. I have read great reviews on the 2010, just wondered if anyone was experienced with the HZL model and could compare for me?

I went through this very same debate before settling on the 2010Q in favour of the Exceed. I think it is a matter of deciding why you are buying a new machine and what you want it to do. I have yet to find the perfect machine that does it all. Most machines are better for some things than others. For me, I really needed a good quilting machine with more space. I didn't need more alphabets or fancy stitches as my Husqvarna did that well but did not have the extra harp space. The two machines you are considering are quite different. The 2010 is not computerized and is a fast, powerful machine that does not fuss about thread, needles and tension. It sews through multiple layers without complaint and has heavy duty feet. The Exceed is a computerized machine and does not have the larger harp size. If you already have a good Bernina, the Exceed may be more of a duplicate than an addition.

I have the 600 and really like it, but it is not the machine I use for FMQ. The harp is much smaller than you'd want for that purpose. I do love it for piecing!

I have the F600 and I'm so in love with it. My head was turned with all those fancy stitches, alphabets and nearly endless stitch combinations. However, You are far more accomplished than I am, and the F600 may not fit as well with an experienced quilter. I am new-ish to quilting and like making gifts and home items and I really wanted all of the fancy stitches. I so enjoy playing with different combinations and I use lettering on all of my gifts and add the month and year on every quilt. I've made 3 twin quilts, a few throws and two more are coming down the pike. I'm not sure about a queen size quilt, but the twin quilts weren't that hard. And the F600 has performed all of it's tasks flawlessly. Well, except that the darn automatic threading feature is a bit hit and miss. Oh, well, nothing is perfect!

Thank you, I appreciate the responses. I think I might go with the 2010 and find a machine later that does more embroidery.

I have been looking at the Juki 600. How big is the harp from the body of the machine to the needle? I have a Juki TL98Q on a frame. Was hoping the work space on the Exceed 600 would be as long as that.
