A sewing, non quilting question
This group of ladies are the greatest. Even though this isn't a quilting problem, I don't know where else to seek help. I need to make fabric, removable
Covers for 12 stationary plaques in our chapel. The plaques are flush with the wall and are 36"x 13". These need to be completed by the middle of March. Thanks, Kathy

Are they for the Stations of the Cross prior to Easter? I grew up in the Catholic faith and immediately made me think of that because the ladies of the Rosary Sodalitry had to replace the stations with new covers during the week before Easter. They usually made like small canopies over the plaques. Like valances over curtains. it was just easier than trying to cover like an ironing board cover. Sorry that's the best description I can come up with.

You could always put it on a piece of cardboard or paper and use the Command adhesive attach it to the wall. Or maybe use the spray basting glue and see if that would hold it. Not sure if that would leave a residue though.

I am confused as to what you really want. Does the chapel have plain [no printing/writing/or decoration] plaques already on the wall? Are you putting up new plaques? What type of covers are you thinking of? Would they be removable covers or permanent?

They must stand off the wall I would make the shape of plaque and put elastic in the edge to hold tight. It should be able to just fit on. If flush with wall why not Velcro strip or similiar to wall.

If the walls are plaster or something that will not be damaged by putting something wet on them, you could use full strength liquid starch. Dip your fabric, wring out as much starch as you can, and then smooth on the surface of the wall. It will dry and look like wallpaper. When you are done with it, simply pull it off. Messy but workable.
