    Default Hunter's Star Fabric Amounts

I really want to do a Hunter's Star with two colors. Does anyone have the fabric requirements for this?

I want to do a lap or twin size. Thanks Sandybeach

Me too. Are you paper piecing? Where are you getting your pattern?

I don't know off hand. But, I am thinking you could look at quilt in a days pattern on line to get an idea. There are many ways to do one and I am thinking it would vary. My red, black and white one I did with the cheryl phillips ruler. It was so easy that way.

Jinny Beyer has a Design Board that should help you. https://www.jinnybeyer.com/quilting-...fm?blockid=207

This yardage guide might help, although amounts could vary depending on the size of the finished block. I have the Accuquilt die for Hunter's Star, which makes a 12" block, but I'm not sure how much yardage I will need. I like two colors, but I am thinking I will keep the light parts the same fabric but make the dark parts (probably red) scrappy so I can use up more of my stash fabrics. Anyway, here's the yardage chart I found online:
    http://www.gorgequiltersguild.org/HS...nd_cutting.pdf

Oh, I also think that *how* you make the Hunter's Star block will affect yardage requirements. My die cuts large pieces, but some patterns have you construct those pieces from squares and triangles. The latter would require more fabric because of the extra seams.

I actually made this quilt once before using this site: http://www.cascadequilts.com/2011/02...-tutorial.html. But I may try MSQC's "easy" pattern. The pattern from cascadequilts uses charm packs, the one at MSQC uses layer cakes. I have only 2 yards of the light fabric, so I will add 2 yards of the dark and see if I can make a good sized quilt from that.

I used the MSQC's tutorial for their Hunter Star. I loved it! Check it out!
