    Default Cleaning thread

Has anyone ever felt a need to clean a spool of thread? What's the best thing to do if a spool of thread just looks like it needs to be cleaned - hand wash it, throw out the outside layer, dust or vacuum? I am not sure if it's from handling or just one of those things that happen. The spool I have in mind is a light aqua and is maybe 3 years old.

Give it a good rub with a micro fibre cloth and if that doesn’t remove the dust, pull off the outer layer.

I use my air compressor when it's just dust and lint. But have pulled off the outer layer and tossed it, too.
