    Default Virtual quilting weekend 8/30-9/2/24

Welcome to the September VQW. I hope many of you will be able to join me this weekend. I have several WIPs to make progress on this weekend and maybe even finish a couple. What are your plans and goals?

next VQW will be October 11-14, 2024.

Well, you can count me in! I have my Easy Breezy to finish putting into a flimsy. I also want to work on my Solare blocks. My daughter wants me to help her make her cross stitch project into a pillow. I'm sure I'll fine some other projects that need attention too. .......... lol ..........

I will join in. I developed a quilt design after having seen some that are similar, and have started making blocks. The overall design is not completely original (and since I started, I have found some that are very close), however I am pleased to have figured out an organized way to create the blocks. Anyway, the "working title" is Square Links. (Each block is 10" finished. Quilt will be 90x100.) I have 42 blocks completed and will continue for this VQW.

I will be joining, doing as much as I can. I just finished up a top and made the binding for it. I will be working on the backing and sandwich. I also need to practice my cello as I have a concert coming up in a few weeks.

    Love your blocks, sloscotty!
This weekend, I'm working on...another pixel quilt! Using shades of blue scraps instead of suggested color code to create a seahorse. If it looks fine, I want to make one in different color themes. Most quilts start off with the thought, "What if ...?"

I’m back too! I’m putting together a OBW someone donated to my guild for a community quilt. Hope to get the half blocks laid out today and begin sewing.

I have been waiting for this weekend since our last VQW! My quilting group is having a "work day" on Saturday thus it will be easier to dedicate time to working on projects. It is like a mini retreat where you have to come prepared and ready to go!!

    1. Sandwich three quilts
    2. Quilt one of the three that are layered.
    3. Make three Happiness is Scrappiness blocks for group sew-a-long.
    4. Make a few of the Boom Blocks for the fall exchange.

Ambitious, you bet'cha but within reach if I keep the audio books going and focused on the goal.

Count me in! I want to:

    1) Finish hand stitching binding to the back of a community outreach quilt
    2) Continue sewing 6.5" strip piecing blocks ( I need 168 of "em, currently at 35)
    3) Correct a block that I've already sewn into a top. ( Remind me that Jack the Ripper is my friend.)

I'm glad to say I finished my dinosaur quilt yesterday, pattern by Elizabeth Hartman. I added a little something extra on the sides to make it wider though using the scraps. Even the binding is made up from the leftover scraps.

So this weekend I want to start starching a bunch of reds and whites I've been collecting out of my stash and try my hand at this optical illusion block made from a 4-patch. Watched a youtube video on how to make it. It's basically a diappearing 4-patch. The couple asked for a checkerboard made in reds and whites and I thought that too boring so this block may just jazz it up enough and still look like a checkerboard pattern. It will take me a day or two just to starch all the fabrics, let dry and then press them all as it will be a queen size quilt so big.

I am still sidelined with my vision issues, but I wish you all a happy and productive VQW!
