    Default snails storm pattern

I am making several snail trail blocks but admire the mix of storm at sea and snail trails. But all the patterns are for paper piecing which I have never done and honestly don't want to. My snail trail blocks will finish at 8 inches . I am fairly new to quilting but am having great success with the Creative Grid ruler for snail trail blocks. Long winded but if anyone knows of a source I can find to mix the 2 together without paper piecing I would be very grateful.Thank You.

Sorry, SewBeez, I can't help you with your question.

Although, you have me totally intrigued with the idea of mixing snail's trail and storm at sea blocks.

Could you please show us a pic of how you place them, to use them together?
    Please? and Thanks!

Deb Tucker has a “Diamond Recs” tool that makes the diamond shape without pp and it will make multiple sizes. I love her tools!

I believe she has either technique sheets or patterns showing how to do both the Storm at Sea and the Snail Trail blocks as well.

I'm also a big fan of the Studio 180 tools.

I searched for storm at sea on the net and found some that mixed the 2 patterns. I liked them but I don't have links.

When I went to make the cat quilt where their tail curl together, I made up a paper pieced pattern as I wanted those tails to match up perfectly. I find paper piecing is fun though it may waste some fabrics. I've always wanted to make a storm at sea pattern and since you brought it up, I might have to put that on my list ot try out as I don't care to make the same pattern twice but keep trying new ones.

Good luck with yours and hope we get to see it when it's all done.

Very similar to Shakespeare in the Park. I think the stars are slightly different.

I made one years ago, used the Tri-Rec ruler for the diamonds-in-rectangles. If you fold the fabric and place the fold line where the 1/4" seam should go then that ruler works well. I did traditional piecing for the square in square blocks, but could also be done with paper piecing.
