    Default Virtual quilting weekend—October 11-14, 2024

Welcome to VQW. What are your plans this weekend? I have the binding left to complete on my ultimate travel bag (by Annie). Then I have several WIPS that I would to at least make some progress on and maybe even finish a couple.

Next months VQW is November 8-11, 2024.

Hello! Today I plan to organize scraps. My workroom totally exploded while making the Sunshine quilt. I made a huge dent in the chaos yesterday. After that, I need to work on the quilt that I am entering in my guild's Quilt Show in February. I have never entered in a show. I need to make and attach a sleeve for my entry.
My next project? Undecided. I do have a kit made up for a pixel jellyfish, but I am just not ready to jump into a large pixel project. I do like the quick 1 yard bags mentioned in another post...
Ya'll will be the second to know which project I fall into!
    Be creative!

Yes! I just finished binding a quilt. Using the rest of the fabric I will make another. Then my mind has a couple more on the list. Taking breaks involves a cross stitch project.

I will be joining in but not until Saturday. Other commitments for today. What will I be working on? Well the options are many. Perhaps quilting a piece for Project Linus or making progress on my version of the Harrisonburg quilt that is peeking at me from my UFO basket. We shall see.

I’ve my quilt shop Finish it for the month to layer, quilt and bind and 3 Comfort quilts to bind. With an Indigenous Fall Festival thrown into the mix that should keep me busy.

I am still on the sidelines with my vision issues but will be checking in on the rest of I get a lot of enjoyment seeing the creativity and energy from the rest of you.

Likewise, I am still unlikely to have my vision corrected by the end of the year, but in good news the cataract surgeries have been rescheduled and they are the first step. Still just wait and see on if I will ever drive again, but I've been so restricted in my vision for these last months I am prepared to accept anything as better than what I've been dealing with.

Despite my limitations, I have agreed to host the Bonnie Hunter Mystery thread here again. The first clue comes out ion Halloween and gives us the colors and yardages. I can see well enough to do that even now! My surgeries will be done by the start of the actual mystery (Black Friday/Thanksgiving) and I'm hoping my sewing group will be able to help me cut the required strips each week.

Well, I just counted how many blocks I've done on this Optical Illusion otherwise known as a Disappearing 4-patch. I'm down to the last 8-9 blocks out of 72 bad boy blocks. This quilt uses 306 4-patch blocks sliced and diced and made into a larger block made up of 4 of the 4-patch blocks. I've got the border, binding and 3 sashings already stitched together ready to add to the quilt once I figure out the arrangement of all these blocks. I'm using various reds and whites. So now I need to figure out if I want to just lay them out randomly or in some sort of order such as putting all the darker reds in one corner and work myself to the opposite corner at the bottom or just throw them up in the air and how they land is how they are arranged. Decisions, decisions, my worse part of making a quilt I think.

I'll be slicing and dicing the last set of blocks today but may not get to them until Monday depending on how much work I have to do tomorrow out in the garden. I'm also starting to dig up peonies and hydrangeas to give away as I'm tired of them.

Will spend some time hand stitching a binding on this afternoon, and I have 2 placemats almost ready for Meals on Wheels. Not sure for the rest of the weekend, as it is our Thanksgiving Monday. Look forward to seeing/hearing what everyone is working on, thanks.

Hello. Today I am going to re-organize part of my stash in the spare room. I have such a mess in there! Mostly fabrics, large patterns and containers of cardmaking tools.
I first am going to drag some bins into the hall for room to work. Not my favorite thing to do. Trust me!
Yesterday I finished a set of log cabin ornaments and straightened up the main sewing room. I am determined to have it all straightened out before the winter sets in. There are three rooms with my craft things in them. One has a buried spare bed piled up with things, one has my new machine and cardmaking bins on the floor, and the other is the main sewing room with a pile of projects to do on a chair.
