Default can't sew over diagonal seams on Janome MC 6700P with professional plate

I've been sewing these seams fine on a cheap domestic, vintage singer and a juki with zero issue but it's just jamming no matter what tension I use on the new janome with this particular foot and plate.

It runs fine over 4 flat layers (same amount as the diagonal) it's just sticking once it hits the diagonal. Starting further down and backstitching jams it too.

    Any thoughts to fix it?

I own 3 Janome machines and have never had this probem. Are your feed dogs up? Maybe a longer stitch length will help.

I have found that slowing down as you come to the seams sometimes help.

I'd check in with a FB janome group, see what they say. the 7700qpc's idid this when they first came out, required a tiny adjustment to the feed dogs. Were it me, I'd take the fabric and machine to a dealer, show them what it's doing specifically. Good luck, generally speaking Janome's are top of the line in quality

Have tried using a hump jumper (or sometimes called jeans-ma-jig)? They are very helpful for machines that don't like sudden changes in the thickness of fabric.

Agree. I keep mine handy when sewing over thick seams.

you didn't say which specific foot and plate are causing the problem. is it the HP foot and plate combination?

are you using the regular accufeed attachment? if not, i highly recommend you try that. you don't need a special plate.
i can sew over anything with the "proper" 9mm accufeed system. it uses both sides of the feed dogs.

i have an M7, which includes the HP plate, the regular HP foot, and the HP2 accufeed. i don't like any of them. everything is more difficult because they only use half the feed dogs. i can't understand why they are so popular.

Yes it's specifically the hp foot plate and default 1/4inch foot for it as its the only foot I can see clearly for accurate piecing at high speed. The other options do run properly they just aren't what I'm looking to use (for the price i paid anyway). I do agree it's not using the feed dogs properly and causing issues I'm just stumped why a cheap domestic machine isn't having any bother with the same feed dog style.

FWIW I have the same machine as you, and do not have problems with the HP plate/foot doing what I want it to do!

Being that you're not happy with your Janome and it's performance, ... take your machine and samples of your work to your dealer and ask for help to solve the problem (as already suggested earlier by someone else)!!

Sometimes there is a very simple solution when someone sees the problem IRL.
Perhaps your dealer can help you sort things out.

I have the 6700p and use the HP plate and foot all the time. I do use the accufeed foot for HP and my machine doesn’t do what you are describing. It sews beautifully for piecing. I use it to attach binding and it gives me no trouble with the diagonal seams from joining the binding.

i would take it back to the dealer and show them what’s happening. There’s no way you should have to put up with that. Hope you get it sorted soon.
