Default 1970 Kenmore

Just started using my 1970Kenmore after servicing Was sewing bare foot for the first time ever and felt the foot peddle was hot, is this normal. Sewed great otherwise.

my guess would be that a "hot foot" is fine, but a hot pedal is not

Some warmth in the foot controller may not be unusual, especially if it's run at intermediate speeds, as the controller will be creating resistance which with electricity will mean heat (your electric oven is resistance heat).

If you have even the slightest doubts about it make sure you have an electrician check it.

I would certainly open up the foot control and clean it out. I have been quite surprised a number of times by how much foreign matter I find in a foot control unit.

Guess that's my next step. I was not sewing fast at all or for very long.

Another option to consider is switching the foot controller itself to an electronic foot controller.
