I plan on starting a Jelly-Roll rug. These 'purple needles' are highly recommended when sewing together Jelly-Roll rugs.
Can I use these needles with my vintage Singer model 237?

I use Schmetz needles in all my old Singers. They work just fine. Schmetz makes a needle for sewing thru many layers and heavy things called a "Super Non Stick" needle or sometimes a Super Universal. They would probably be great for that.

Janome Purple Needles are the answer to anything. Magic, I guess. They told me to use them for my Bernina LongArm when a client brought over some thicker thread. Wasn't 99% successful, so I changed out the thread.
I bought a generic pruple needle from Amazon. I have one in my embroidery machine. It's working fine.

Needles branded Janome are made by Organ.
to get the equivalent of the purple needle at a much lower price look for Organ 15x1SP #14 Ball Point

I have 3 Janome machines, but have never used their brand of needles. Instead I've found Superior Titanium Coated Superior Needles #90/14 or #100/16 to be the best with any thread or setting that I use. They may work in your machine also. I order mine from Amazon.
