A "better" quality Flannel Backed Tablecloth, straight pinned into my wall. I say better, because one of my classmates had one that had hardly any flannel on the back & her squares did not stick very well.
This came from a recent quilting class, as the instructor wanted us to bring one, BUT I also have a Fons & Porter book, American Country Scrap Quilts that was published in 1995 that talks about using a tablecloth "way back then".

I have a small space in the master bedroom to sew, so I use bigger clothes pins to pin a flannel sheet on the decorative lip in front of the closet doors.

Sometimes the pieces stick on thier own, but most times, I just pin them on.

Then when I have to stop sewing I can roll it up and stick it on the sewing table.

I have a small sewing room as well and I bought a plastic tablecloth and turned it over and pinned it to my wall and it works just great, I got mine at the Dollar General store for a couple of dollars.

I bought that velcro that is tacky on the backside and applied one side to the top of a sheet and the otherside to the higher part of a wall where no one looks, then I can take the whole thing down if I have company,usually I don't though so I can get their impression,I'm so bad, I wait for the impression I want....

I just put a design wall up this past weekend. I purchased a tension rod ($6 at Wal-Mart) that hangs between the closet door frame, which I have a flannel backed table cloth attached. Works wonderful, I can roll up the table cloth ($5 at Wal-Mart) whenever I need to, the tension rod comes down easily if I need to get into the closet, etc.
