My DD had her blankie.. and we would have driven a hundred miles back to someplace to get that blanket had we ever forgotten it! No chance of forgetting it, she was attached to that blanket..

The first time she went to a slumber party, she didn't know what to do.. Our solution, tuck the blankie inside her pillowcase.. that way she could reach in and feel of it and go to sleep. She kept that old tattered blankie in her pillowcase for years.

I agree.. if it's harmless and it makes them comfortable and feel safe.. let 'em have it. I just didn't know she'd keep it until she found a husband to make her feel safe and comfortable!!! Bet she still has it tucked away in some hidy hole! (but just in case you're worried about her, she is a normal, healthy, collage educated, mother of two now, with a loving husband.. perhaps that blankie helped more than we know!)

My 6 year old great niece still has a crocheted one that my daughter gave her as a baby gift. She still sleeps with it every night and uses it to snuggle up in on the couch or chair. It is white, or I should say was white. It is dingy looking and has been forever. My niece has tried everything to whiten it. It must have been cheap yarn. I don't know what my daughter paid for it, but I know she didn't have much money as she was going to college at the time. We never dreamed this would be her favotie blankie.

Sounds like my granddaughters...they are 30, 25, 24...and still have their blankies! in fact, they have picked out material [always lambs for one, cats for the other] 3 times to have them 'recovered'
