Oh my gosh--how incredibly sad. Prayers for strength and healing coming.

All you need to say is "I'm so sorry." Nothing more. That's enough. Just be there for her--don't shy away. It's not easy--but she'll appreciate it.

Hang in there--such a tough sad situation.
