I think the six weeks will be enough for you to harvest some eggplant. We gave up on our garden after it drowned out for the third time this spring. We went into it last week and rescued what we could from the weeds but basically we lost well over half of our garden. Not fun doing all that work just to have it drown out.

Try what my smart little hillbilly Grandma used to do.
After she would peel an onion (any member of this family
would do) she would take the root out and plant it again in
the garden. She called them the "forever plant" and with one
onion/garlic/leek/etc, she could have a steady supply for
many years. I believe that she also planted a lot of other under
ground veggies, best try them your selves.

My squash leaves have white dots on them, Is that powdery mildew? I noticed today that some of the lower leaves have gone all white. Should I remove just the leaves? They are still making squash.

I'm giving up on mine too. I pulled the bean and cucumber plants. The tomatoes have lots of blossoms but no tomatoes. Beets are still good. Squash looks pretty sad. Oh well, maybe next year.

I plan to have one someday....just don't have the motivation to start one yet.

I think that day is today. I went to pick tomatoes and the blossom ends are brown and have inch worms on them which I figured are eating the tomatoes. 7 tomatoes got thrown over the deck and I have 3 to eat. The peppers had the same thing so NO bell peppers. I don't know what to do to get rid of the worms so I guess I will not take the time to water the tomatoes. I have 2 eggplant plants so I will water those I have 3 eggplants growing. This season has not been a good one for my garden.

plant marigolds near your plants, the scent is said to keep away bugs and the like. Has helped me a great deal this season

And I just watched the news and we are supposed to stay well over 100 for the rest of the week. I water to keep things from dying. Hopefully it will not last too much longer. Stay healthy. Stay out of the heat.

Gosh, years ago when my son and I moved to AZ, we had a beautiful vegetable garden. My son decided immediately that we needed to plant it. We had to sift all of the rocks out of the dirt and spent probably $200 or more in amendments. Then the planting started. We had so much stuff and it was really cool to see it all come to life. We fed it, watered it, weeded it for weeks. One day I came home from work and the grasshoppers paid us a visit and everything for the most part was gone. I told my son that those veggies were the most expensive I have ever had and we couldn't even enjoy them. I shop at the market now.
