I have made several Bow Tucks, and always use fusible Pellon, and quilt the whole thing, including the outer pocket. I feel like it makes everything more stable, since I tend to toss mine in the washer and dryer when needed. I carried one of mine for probably 2 years, and it looked as good as new, when I finally got tired of it.

When I first started making them, I grid-quilted them, but that takes longer than I want to spend to do it well. Now, I quilt with fast, curvy lines, and I love it. It's faster, and prettier, I think. :-D

LOVE that sunflower fabric and that purse. I agree that the pocket should be quilted, if only for stability. Most women tend to overstuff their purse pockets and quilting would help stabilize. It only takes a few extra minutes to do a job correctly the first time, so why not just do it?

As far as ironing that CRAPPY glitter fabric, I would iron from the back. The butterflies are BEAUTIFUL, but the manufacturer really cheapens the fabric by tossing glitter on it. Wish they would get that through their heads. :-D

I would use a pressing cloth over the fabric when ironing. Check your instructions on the pellon to see whether or not to use steam.

I've made three bow tucks and have never quilted any of them and satisfied with how they look. They have all held up well and are being used continually. Two were gifts and one for myself.

Is meander and echoing the same thing? I am not very good at my fmq. I have tried the pocket now 2 times. I think this time it may be ok.

When the stitching is meandering like your final choice around the butterflies, I have resorted to using the regular straight stitch. It handles those loose curves beautifully. I have actually successfully sewn a 2" diameter circle on my bow tuck pockets using the straight stitch. I too, have not come close to mastering the FMQ. Yours butterflies look great by the way.

On the back side it looks like I had pulled my fabric or something. Is this going to be a problem. I don't know how to put arrows on my picture to show you where I am talking about.

I want to put a snap in this one. Can someone tell me when you put a snap it and what did you use for the back of the snap so that it doesn't come through?
