For anyone who doesn't have a stilletto... try an old nut pick. I use one that belonged to my GM and I can't remember when I didn't use it!

Mine is a long handled 'picker - upper'. I squeeze the handle at one end and the claws at the other end pick up the bobbins, scissors, reels of cotton etc. that I invariably knock or drop under my sewing table. Saves a lot of scrambling in hard to get at places!

Hands down it is a curved dental pick with a 1/32 in wide flat blade for picking those impossible stitches. My close second is my binding tool called The Binding Tool by TQM Products Inc. No fuss, perfect every time, beautiful mitered quilt binding.

My best, handiest and most useful tool is a bamboo shish-ka-bob stick. It keeps my fingers out of the way of the needle and I use it to guide the fabric close to the needle so it doesn't slip towards the end. Cheap too. My 2nd best tool - tweezers.
