This is such a wonderful thing for you to do. I have to make a few for my sister to donate. Maybe I will ask her to come and help with them. Huh, why didn't I think of that before?

A wonderful gift for the animals. I am still practicing on my longarm and use muslin top and bottom. I purposely make the quilt sandwich extra large. When I get done I cut them to size and bind them. Our local Post Office lady collects items for the animal shelter and am happy to deliver them there. As said, they don't mind the look and love the warmth.

I agree very much, the dogs have no idea what they did to deserve such a fate ! I go to the 2nd hand store and buy old blankets and donate them as well as a bag of food. WE got our dog (my avatar)from a rescue and they will receive more blankets and bags of food at least once a month !

What a kind generous thing to do, I bet the dogs head straight for their comfort stations!

Wouldnt this be a great project for teaching young people to sew. If they cant use a machine yet , maybe they could help to tack the fronts and backs together. It would teach them to do something for others , even animals.
When I was around ten, I used to help my mom tack quilts together with a big needle and something like crochet thread. Now I use my machine since I dont have time or patience for hand quilting.
    Have a great day.
