We took a trip to the Oregon Coast in March and Tillamook County has a lot of barn quilts. It was the first time my husband has seen them. I think they are wonderful. I have never seen any here in Central Oregon though. I wish they did have more.

Hi there,
I have written a book about Barn Quilts and the Quilt Trails, and I am pleased to answer any questions that you might have. I spent three years researching them all over the country and can actually trace them back to the first one. I am not on here much, as I am a casual quilter, but I will bookmark this thread and check back in to answer questions. Meanwhile, you can email me [email protected] If you are on Facebook, there is a forum for folks who are interested in and who create quilt squares--Barn Quilts and the American Quilt Trail. Stop on by!

The one in Ontario is in Wardsville, not too far from Detroit. Great bunch of folks. http://wardsvillebarnquilts.wordpress.com/map/
Where is the one in Ontario. I have been trying to convince my DH to put one on our barn.

There are over 3000 barns (or other structures) with quilts on them, in 29 states plus Ontario, Canada. Kentucky has the most, with about 800.

We have lots of barns in the Kentucky area that have had Quilt blocks painted on them. After seeing about 15 or so we started counting. Over the next 300 miles or so we count 31 barns with quilt block. It was so much more fun then playing license plate bingo!!! Just wondering if this is just in our little area of the world.

The ones in Texas are in Terry County. They have no barns but are mounting them on posts. There is also a statwide effort underway, with plans to have at least one in every county.
