I use the colour card to choose the thread and then can go to the exact location and when I put them away, they go back into the rightful container so they can be readily found again.
I am sure there is no perfect system just whatever works for you.

All I can tell you is that I make myself clean up after major projects. It helps if you have to share the space with another family member (ie a young adult) and you want them to keep their space in the house clean too. Which is about once a month the room gets real clean. Then time for a new project to start the process all over. I try to put the things I don't need away before getting real involved in my project. K

If you find the answer to this one, please post it. I read somewhere that in order to be creative you must make a mess. Kind of like the saying, "You can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs."

I do find that plastic pans, like dish pans help me to keep each project together, even if I have two or three going at once. I just toss all the stuff for that project into the pan. I found some that are shallower and larger than a dish pan (sort of like a kitty litter size) that allow me to keep finished blocks nice and flat and have room for the unsewn bits also.

I am so glad I am not the only one ! If anyone finds the answers please let us know.But I can almost find just about anything........ almost. It is kinda like a mystery hunt you'll never know what you'll find and then it is kinda like Christmas ! So I guess it really is ok after all LOL

I get stressed out when my sewing room gets really bad, that is when I have to stop and clean it up again before I can start a new project. More often than not, it is a mess. I only straight up when it gets to be a big mess.
