I really like that. Doesn't look baggy to me.

I'm so happy that my boxer quilt brought back such a wonderful memory for you.
I can't believe you're so close to me. I'm going to Federal Way Thurs. to hang out with my 22 yr. old g-dtr.
Isn't it wonderful how some quilts bring back such great memories from the past?

You can always add additional quilting in the 4-square areas; stippling would work.
LOL. I'm glad I could surprise you.
I had the quilt gift wrapped last night but unwrapped it this morn. to see if I wanted to do just as you suggest. Since this is my first time to wash it before gifting it, it doesn't look too bad. I just haven't decided yet. I sure love the crinkled look washing gave it.

If you decide to add more quilting to the 4-patches, it could be a good idea to spray starch both the backing and the top (even if you don't iron). That will stabilize the areas so they are less likely to distort. By the time you finish the quilting, the spray starch will be unnoticeable (so you don't have to wash again).

I too love the crinkling effect that comes from washing a cotton quilt!

Reading some of the messages people sent you put a smile on my face and I laughed. Your quilt is fantastic, I'm sure your friend will love it. I have a poodle named Louie and I take him everywhere and three cats. They sleep with me so I know what its like. Great Job! Karen from Freedom Ohio
