    I think these are spinning wheel bobbins for when you spin your own wool.

    I have two of them that have candles in the top and a gingham looking ribbon tied just under the top rim! They look great in a country decorated home.

    They can be used as candle holders (thin Tapers). Or depending on the size as binding holders ~ put a ribbon through the center large & long enough enough to fit over your head so that it will rest comfortably on your chest. Enjoy, they are neat !

    I have some of those in my sewing room..they look great with ric rac or ribbons or different trims wound around them..they are old spools from factory work....I love mine and everyone that comes in my sewing rooms comments on them...great find..blessings

    I suppose you could use them to put your binding on to keep before you use it on the quilt!! :)
