Beautiful clothes! Brought tears to my eyes, remembering my sister who made American girl doll clothes. When she died I was given her patterns but a granddaughter got the doll and I can't afford to buy one. Maybe someday.

If you can't afford the "real" American Girl doll, take a look at Nancy's Notions for their version. It's a lot more affordable. I haven't actually seen the doll in person but the picture makes her look really nice, esp with the difference in price!

You can buy an 18" at Target that is an exact fit for AG and costs about $25.00. I use her as a model at craft shows!

My own experience with the Springfield Doll that is sold at Michael's and in Clothilde catalog. I had two of them to use as models for making clothes for my granddaughters' dolls. One lost an arm, the other lost her head (knew she should have been named Marie). If they won't hold up to an adult using them for a dress form then I would hesitate to buy one for a child. There's no worse disappointment for a child than a toy that fails. I don't know if this is he same one in Nancy's Notions catalog.

Bless you. I made a total of one Barbie doll dress. Too tiny. Too hard to handle those small pieces of fabric.

I have been collecting interesting clothing from thrift stores just for this purpose. I found one of those dolls at a flea market and cannot wait to make some clothes.
