Portable bobbin winders - yea or ney?

Yea. I use mine all the time for my Janome machine and have no problems at all. It saves me time being able to wind several bobbins before beginning a project and I couldn't live without it. Ok, I could live without it but life wouldn't run a smoothly. :-)

I own a Sidewinder.
I too used a 40% off coupon.
I wouldn't have purchased it though without the coupon.
I have mine within reach and use it all the time.
It's quicker than using my machine to wind bobbins.

If your talking about the sidewinder it's ok for sewing machine-not very tight but can't use it for my longarm without holding the thread to make it tight on bobbin. the on off button doesn't work so I have to hold machine and thread and wish I had one more hand LOL

I got a "Sidewinder" as a gift and found it to be really miserable to use. I took it back to Joann's figuring it was defective. The second one was the same. I had followed the simple directions carefully but I still found it wound very loosely and messy. Also it kept falling over. I would set it on my table and as soon as it got started it fell over backwards. Maybe this was ME, but I don't know what else I could have done except hold it up with one hand and how do we save time that way? So unless someone can tell me how I messed up, I say a loud NAY!
P.S. I took the second one back and exchanged it for fabric. Can't go wrong there! 8)

Hi! I was told at a quilting class that if you put batteries in the Side-Winder it gives it a little heft - did that! Have been using mine for over a year now and love it. Watch closely the way you wind your thread around. I wish I could help you more, but I honestly have not had one single problem with mine and I love it. Sits right out here and is at my beck and call when I run out of thread! Edie :)
