As to tying: I've done it at the distance stated on the package. It wasn't enough and the batting bunched up. I'd recommended tying at 1/2 the distance. Also, the movement during use and washing put a lot of tension on the tying spots and some tore the fabric. So again, I reccommended tying at 1/2 the distance. And tying across seams or intersections where there is more fabric to give more strength.
perfect! thank you so much for the input!

That is a lovely quilt and the your practicality in view of the area it is going to impresses me. Though new to quilting, it doesn't show and I think that we have loads to look forward to form your creative hands!

With regards to tying quilts, I have been told many years ago that we should be tying no more than 4 inches apart. I have made one tied quilt and tied it at 3.5 inches apart for stability. I guess it depends on how much use the quilt is going to get. The more use the closer the ties? That is my measure. I hope this makes sense and helps. Thank you for sharing.

Your quilt is awesome. I love that fabric.

As for quilting or tying I think even though the allowable distance is suggested I would do Q or T at least half as close as recommended. I would tie this quilt every 4 to 4 1/2". Or in your case one more between all you have done so far.

This will give a safety factor for wear and tear on the quilt. If someone throws this in the washer you want it to hold together well.

    A great quilt!
    peace
