I've used one a couple of times. And, I had to keep marking so I could see it. I think I'd get the wider lined oneunless you've got better eyes than I do.

I stopped worrying about using them after I read Sharon Schamber uses them at her web site. She makes fantastic quilts and if she isn't worried about them why should I be.I use the red and black ones.

I bought a fine BALL POINT frixion pen from Amazon.com and had a heck of a time getting the marks on the fabric, the friction may have been erasing it, and it stretched the fabric.

I have reservations about the Frixion pens so I don't use them for anything that is going to show-just in case the lines come back or fade the fabric. However, just a day or two ago I saw an advertisement for a gel type pen for marking quilts that is available from Nancy's Notion. You might wan to check that out because it did sound like a new take on this type of project. I, like many of you, find that marking products are really challenging. I have a drawer full of things I have tried. Some are great and others have been read duds.

I love these pens, and I used mine all the time. I have a package of various colors.

    I love mine

Yes, sometimes when Im going too fast it 'skips' and you have to re-draw
yes, the line will come back in EXTREME cold.. I doubt any of my quilts will be going to the North Pole anytime soon
Yes, it stretches the fabric IF I pull on the fabric when drawing - just dont pull..
Yes, it will leave a faint line on certain fabrics, IM scrappy so it just blends in with my quilts anyway
Yes, i heard about the residue it leaves behind, the fabric itself has more, so not a concern for me
Yes, IMHO are really worth the investment..
Fine for precise lines and regular for just following along is my method..

I use the gel pens from Nancy's Notions and really like them. Ilike the various colors. So far I haven't had any trouble with them but I haven't used them long.

I read on another forum that a woman tested them and if you was the quilt in synthrapol the marks don't show up again after getting cold.
