Don't laugh, but it really works....I use foam board and Popsicle sticks glued to it, can cut sticks to size with minor cutting then cover foam and sticks...very very sturdy nothing else seems to hold up as well.

I use heavy mat board from the art dept. at Hobby Lobby, and it works very well. I cover it with fabric to match the lining of the purse.

I have found if you stitch across the lower portion of the outer bag fabric and fleece backing at about 1/2" intervals going all the way to the bottom of the fabric you will not need anything more. It stabilizes it and makes it stand up.

I am not sure these will show in order but the black outer bag that is laying flat shows the stitching. The single floral bag is a completed bag with the stitching. The three bags are soft and made before I started stitching the lower portion of the bags.

Wow some great ideas here. Heading back to the hardware store, somewhere near the leaf guard are peel and stick floor tiles. If you don't have old cutting mats you can get sticky back floor tiles up to 16" square I think. 14" for sure I've bought them. If you find one with a chipped corner most stores will give you a discount. ))).

I also use the plastic needle point mesh. I have covered heavy cardboard with the same fabric and made it to that it could be removed for washing the purse. Good luck.

I have learned that it would be a good idea to put those items you can buy to put in the four corners of the bottom of your bag. After a few years of using my purse, those corners are wearing out. Also good idea for sanitary reasons if you have to put your purse down somewhere that has no hooks to hang it on. I covered the worn corners with hot glue. It is holding up for now. Love my Bow Tuck purse.

Michael's also carries it, I think.
I found foam board in black and in white at Dollar Tree. That's what I've been using in some totes I made.

I buy these plastic cutting board sheets. I think there are two to a package. You will find them at your local dollar store. Look in the kitchen section. I also use them as bottoms for pincushions too. They are clear enough to trace easily. I suppose you could use them for templates.
