Do you remove pins as you sew or sew over them?

I never, ever sew over pins any more. I used to, until the needle hit the pin and shattered the needle, it hit me just below my right eye. That quickly broke me of sewing over pins. I remove the pin just as I come to it.

When the foot gets close to the pin, I pull it half out so the tip is still in but within the seam and not where the needle will hit, as the needle passes the pin tip, I pull it the rest of the way out. I slow down a little but not much because by now I have developed a sort of rhythm to it. I do use the long flathead pins, so I have something solid to hold and enough length to keep my fingers safe.

I've never run over pins, never, ever. When you do, you can through the calibration off your machine. You could also risk the chance of the needle breaking and getting hit in the eye. I love my Bernina too much to abuse it and was told to NEVER, EVER run over pins. I take them out just before the needle reaches it.

I never sew over pins, I think it can be dangerous, the pin could break and a piece fly off and hurt you or it could drop down into your machine and cause damage. I use a drop of elmers glue on my intersecting seams and nothing ever moves. Elmers glue has become my best friend.LOL

I am crossing my fingers for you, you'd better do more than knock on wood, it's not a question of ever hitting a pin, it's a question of WHEN you will hit a pin. It WILL happen and when it does, you can mess up your timing, break a needle, get it in the eye or inside the internal workings of your machine.......js

I remove pins when I come to them, I never sew over them I am to scared that if the needle hits needle break and could fly up and hit you in the face or eye. Have you tried to use a stiletto that what I use keep it right next to my machine in hand reach.
