No more magazines at Hobby Lobby?

WOW. I don't get to Hobby Lobby to often but I like looking thru the magazines to see if there was something I wanted to buy. We need to send emails to the corporate office. Subscriptions to magazines are not getting cheaper. Tried to renew my subscriptions to Quilter's World and there was nothing offer like the deal with my first subscription. They give you huge discounts to hook you in and then they want full price. At least they allow you to look at small photos of what is in their magazines so I am just going to check quarterly to see if I want to buy a digital copy.
I subscribe to just 2 quilt mags currently, I used to get at least 5-6 for years. Like you, when they don't offer longtime subscribers a BETTER rate or keep raising renewal rates, compared to NEW subscribers, well they sure lost me !! No wonder most magazines are struggling these days ...
I'd rather choose issues when I see a good one on the newsstand. I also like to buy the "special" quilt issues that come out seasonally, you can't subscribe to most of those. It was nice to use a coupon for those at HL, and Joann's doesn't allow coupons for magazines.

Last week, our Kroger Store in Ohio was making the entire magazine space to 1/4 of what it had been. There were only 4 quilting magazines on display instead of the usual 10 magazines...sigh. I usually pick one each week when I go to the store to shop....they must be doing away with magazines, also.

I was at Joann's and HL yesterday and did not see a magazine. HL said they discontinued carrying them. Called J's and they said they moved the magazine rack to the aisle in the checkout line. Who wants to try to find a magazine while people are trying to get by you to go thru the line? It is so narrow now with all the candy and basket filler items. Then, if you do find one, hopefully the subject you want isn't on the bottom row, and want to buy something to make the item in the magazine, you have to plow back thru the line to get back to the store, etc. Wonder what marketing genius thought up that one??!!

I heard a conversation as I was checking out from Hobby Lobby earlier this week that they were getting rid of magazines. They would replace them with a few books. I will subscribe to a magazine once in a while just to see what patterns there are. Then I trade with a friend of mine once in a while.
