Even variations of White show up different. I asked for white or tone on tone white or WOW with the blue fabric I sent. Everyone sent white but I was amazed at how many different patterns and colors of even white there was! I bought a whole bolt of "white" but when it came it was more of an ivory so I didn't use it as white...Just going into Joanns I am amazed at the different shades of ALL colors.

Hi Jayne... it's going to be fun making blocks with you. Soon Janice will post the group photo album that she keeps, and you can take a look at lots of past blocks and finished quilts. That might help you decide how much fabric to buy.

I'm afraid those of us who posted many fabrics might have confused marlenab. Usually we send the same fabric for everyone, but sometimes a few of us renegades decide to go scrappy and send 20 different fabrics, or some combination thereof. For your first boom, I'd keep it as simple as possible.

I'm trying to make two floral lap throws this time, so I sent all different florals from my stash. I want the lap quilts to be scrappy florals. But this is the first time I've ever done that! I'm actually copycatting Teriamn... it was her idea and she's doing it too.

This might be a good time to repost some of the abbreviations we use so that the new members know what we mean by using them. I'm sure most quilters are familiar with them, but just in case there are any questions......

WOW- white on white
TOT- tone on tone
COC- cream on cream

There are bound to be many more that I haven't listed. Okay, Ladies, what are some that I've left off?
WOF- width of fabric

Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately it doesn't take much to confuse me.

I was going to raid my stash but I'm really thinking I need to go fabric shopping.

Terriamn....it took me a bit to figure it out. Click on settings at the top right of the page.

Then on the left side, you will find Edit Avatar

Hope that helps.

JayneW, welcome to the group. That is the way I spell my daughter's name. You asked about pictures, if you want to post a picture in this box, you would click on "go advanced" under this box. Then click on the manage attachment button, click on choose file, then upload. It should appear in the box when you close the manage attachment window. If your pictures are too large you will need to resize them. I can upload from my laptop or my iPad, but not my Samsung phone, but that could be operator error. Hopefully this made sense.
