    Default Stuck on medallion quilt

Does this quilt look finished to you? It's only 53" square which is smaller than I like square quilts to be but I'm concerned that adding to it would throw the design off. I've had the center sunflower square for years and wanted to do something with it. I do have more of the gold and green inner border fabrics, but not sure adding them to the outer border would add or hinder the design. I'm afraid it might make the quilt look "heavy". If it matters this is a charity prayer quilt that will probably go to a nursing home resident.

I think another solid border would anchor the center even more. maybe one shade lighter of the gold?

Thank you Rosimone. I'm working from stash so didn't have a lighter gold but do have a yellow. Or the green and gold leaves. Would either of these work? I'm terrible at choosing fabrics and even though this is a charity quilt like to do my best. Thanks.

    BelfryBat ... Nice job!!
Cheery and Sunny, in every way!

As a prayer quilt for someone in a nursing home, I think the size is perfect.
It's not like you are trying to make it into a bed quilt for sleeping.

To finish it off, I would bind it with the green you've already used.

I think the green would finish and anchor it, if you have enough for a narrower border and binding. Try about 3/4th or 1/2 of what is around the center square?

You could also add a gold border to the top and bottom only and then a green border and binding all the way around. This would give you more length than width. I've done that with fine results.

I've done this as well since I tend not to like square quilts, but wondered how that would work on a medallion quilt. I'll audition and see what I think. Thanks.

I think another border would be good, to help "calm" down the sunflower on white portions. THe green you showed would work ... or how bout a brown that matches the sunflower centers?

I liked the green you showed - the leaves are kind of sunflowery.

If you had enough fabric, a 4 tov6 inch border of that with a dark green binding might work.

I like the brown border. Somehow it completes the whole quilt. I'd use the goldish fabric for the binding.
