Missing Fabrics is a site to try and connect people with their fabric needs. Simply

Sometimes I am able to send a piece out of my stash and into a wanted pair of hands, whether for mending a project, or replacing one. This time, she just likes the fabric! Last time was in the Fall, a grandmother had a surprise grandbaby and wanted to make a matching stocking for the new arrival that matched the older kids and rest of the family.
This one I was also able to give her some dating info, I had used it for a maternity dress in 1988...

I forgot to pass on my fabric IN and OUT for February. I did purchase backs to finish two quilts that are at the long arm quilter so not counted in February's totals. One piece did not play well with the quilt top I intended it for, so.... my solution was to sell it to a friend who doesn't have much stash. So that was a wash. I replaced it with my second choice a plain white. Boring but is will soon be out of my hands.
The only Out was a baby quilt, the chemo quilt for a granddaughter's friend, and some donation orphan blocks.for a total of about 14 yards out. Then I shopped at JoAnns for a what was needed to finish a friend's quilt that came to a whopping big total. In the end, I am 9.5 yards in the red. AKA more into the stash than out of the stash.
But just wait for March! Keep shopping from your stash everyone. Eventually you will see a HUGE difference.

Just stumbled on this thread. I haven't posted much here yet but this intrigued me. I just purged my sewing room and was going to start on my fabric next. This will remind me to shop my stash first.

Welcome, athyE. I have bee at this process of shopping from stash, using what is at hand and so on since before COVID and it determination does make a difference. We are here to support each other's individual journey to not just de-stash, but to use what we have at hand first, shop when needed and to resist impulse purchases. Every one of us applies the guidelines in a slightly different way.. Find yours and tell us about your progress.
*One refreshing idea is to simply give away what we don't truly love/like and know we will never use.
KathyE. if you have lots of unfinished projected, take a peek at the UFO group here on the Quilting Board. As always, a good group of quilting friends to encourage us to finish what we have started in the past.

I've been busy and have only just managed to catch up with the last couple of pages of posts - great stories, ideas and insights along with new friends to welcome to our Fabric Moratorium. Thanks, all, for being here!
In between general life chaos I've been chipping away at my little string blocks (post #55) and have finally finished all of the HST (or QST, depending on how you look at it) triangle sub-units I think I'm going to need. My layout changed about three times through this process but I'm getting very excited about my final decision. Progress is slow most days, but I'm getting there - I don't get a lot of uninterrupted time and since I'm in a "pay attention to layout and trimming down blocks" stage I am determined not to rush through things because I don't want to have to redo blocks or take a trip to emergency for stitches! :-)
I'm not sure I'm really going to feel I've used up much of my stash but I think between WMU's estimation method and a plan to weigh my flimsy (mostly because there are between 6 and 10 interior seams in every 6.5" block), I'll be able to get a rough idea of yardage out. Fingers crossed I'll be able to report it for March. In the meantime, keep finding and using the treasures you have in your stash!

I have fabric yardage in my stash that I have been “saving” for the right project. I’ve come to the conclusion that using that fabric is a better use than waiting for the pattern idea to come along that works best. I made myself use one of those pieces for a backing. I was surprised at how good it felt to finally just use it for something - anything. 3 yards out for me so far this month and zero added.

I made a second trip to JoAnns yesterday and purchased about 10 yards of fabric. The good part is 4 yards is for a specific quilt that is a long term scrap using project. The rest was multiple cuts of good old white that I use often for background and some will likely go as setting triangles for a friend's quilt finish.
Yup,the hole is being dug deeper but.... it will go out in the next month or two. Shopping with a plan sure does help. Looks like one more trip to JA for friend's quilt, then it will be over.
