Blocks 5 & 6 were dropped when I checked this morning. I've got them cut out.

Time to choose fabric, I guess the quilting fairies think I need more practice on Square in a Square (not my favorite shape)

I've got my pieces cut for block 5 and 6. In fact, I've got the rest of the blocks all cut out too. I don't care for most of the sewing instructions (hate covered corners) so I've been drawing the blocks up in EQ8 so I can get the measures and cut out peices in a method that works better for me. I got on a role and did them all, then I was worried I might have to pull more fabric so I got to cutting. Was a bit of a stretch, but I managed to get them all cut with the FQ I had selected (have almost nothing left of them.) I'll sew them up as the months go by. I don't like having stacks of fabric pulled and waiting to be cut, and was thinking it was going to drive me nuts to have them sitting around until the end of the year.

I did blocks 5 and 6 a couple days ago. I like my block 5, but wish I'd used a brighter color for the center square.

Mkotch - I think they are great! I am working on those two right now! I have been slow because I had Carpal Tunnel Surgery on my right hand a week ago! Of course, I am right handed! LOL

Mkotch very nice blocks.

I'm cutting my pieces for block 6, right now and my brain is fried. I know there is a way to do what I want but can't get my head around the math.

Macybaby Do you know how to do the square in a square with cutting a smaller square and adding the corners using the easy angle ruler? I want to fussy cut the center square but don't want to waste that much fabric. I am using the easy angle to do my FG which was easy, since you mocked up everything in EQ8 I thought you might have my answer???

I went Duh lets just paper piece this thing. It's only one block and I used my black scraps.
Should have it sewn tomorrow.

Seems to me Bonnie Hunter (quiltville.com) had instructions for making the square in a square in a variety of sizes.

@Mkotch Great looking blocks. I can't seem to get back in the groove from having bronchitis -- my head still feels fuzzy -- so I'm having trouble cutting these blocks. When possible I do the magic 8 for HST, so have those squares cut but not yet sewn.
