Oh, my gosh. I put the two January birthday candy packages in the mail today but didn’t add the cards! My apologies. You’ll see who they’re from as my board name is on the envelope. If that’s my only goof of 2026 I’ll be thrilled but I seriously doubt it.

    Happy New Year!

Good news - I found my missing candy sets! Lurking high in the corner on top of a shelf. This is why I put off getting organized...I tend to misplace things, lol! More good news - Birthday candies and greetings were mailed out today to my twin January birthday gal. I had to run out after work anyway today and was able to get to the post office before they closed. Phew, got one month down!
Thanks for the KatieMae link. I've not seen that one before. Looks like some fun animal patterns and other good stuff!

I've enjoyed following Debby Brown Quilts. She has a yearly Color Blocks Quilt-A-Long that is free, but you need to register. I've not heard about a Quilt-A-Long for 2026 yet, but I think you should be able to view previous years. https://debbybrownquilts.teachable.com

She also has a one day Mystery Quilt-A-Long tomorrow. I may follow along, not sure yet.

Yay to all of you first day mailers! I used to follow Debbie Brown but I lost interest. It just may be time to take a look again. Thanks for the reminder, Pinkflowers. Didn't I say those envelopes would show up? I had confidence in you! I often do the same and then get upset with myself when I have put an item away so well I can't find it. As far as swapping envelopes go, I now keep all of my swap envelopes and extra squares, stamps and what ever odds and ends in one project box. It may be a little messy, but it is confined to that beautiful purple box. Works for me.

Janice, you provided some midnight giggles for me. Bet you are not the first one to have been so focused on mailing immediately that we forgot part of a mailing.

Jen - I hope nothing froze up during the cold nights. Everything running now? I recall power outages after hurricanes but we never had furnace out in winter.

Oh, I hope you are warm again, Jen, and I ditto TG's thoughts about frozen pipes etc. I did have a furnace go out in the winter a few years back during one of these polar vortex years, and it was frightening to think about all of the damage the COULD happen. As it turned out it was a furnace exhaust pipe that had filled with ice and the furnace automatically shut down as a safety feature. Who knew? 10 minutes with a blow torch kind of device by the repair/maintenance fellow that melted the ice and all was well.

Warm thoughts may not warm your home, but can send them anyway. Hope all is toasty and back to "normal", Jen.

Newbie here has mailed the January envelopes! I'm hosting a brunch later this morning and had to make a last minute run to the grocery store - which conveniently has a mail drop box in the parking lot.

Wesing, thank you for the info about posting pictures. That's an incentive for me to finish something now to share.

Jen, I hope your heat is back on. Back in 2006 we had a "hundred year windstorm" and were without power for nine days. We had to throw away absolutely everything in the refrigerator and freezer except for two mustards and the soy sauce.

I'm hoping to do some sewing this afternoon after the brunch. I need to make some curtains for the newly remodeled bathroom. After nearly 20 years of the 1980s brown and tan decor, we've come into the light. Ha ha!

Jen, I hope your heat has started working. It's been getting "down" to mid-30's at night here, cold for us, but we are lucky we won't freeze regardless. Julie, I'm trying to remember the 2006 wind storm and have no memory of it! It must have missed us in north Seattle and I was blessedly oblivious.
No ambitious agenda for me this weekend, just need to see friends we didn't get to see over the too-packed holidays. "Let's meet after the holiday rush is over." So, now it's the after-holiday rush. This time last year I was doing the quilting Mayhem Mystery. Man, where did I find the time to do that?

My envelopes went to the PO this morning.

We’ve had house guests since late October and today’s their last Saturday in town so we spent the afternoon and evening with them. The morning was spent running errands including the PO run. We got home about 30 minutes ago and I am exhausted. Yesterday we got the Christmas trees and decorations down. The house looks a little bare but I was glad to get that done.

Tomorrow we have church in the morning and then we will be coming home for a nap and an afternoon and evening at home. Monday I start a new job and I’m pretty excited about it. I’m looking forward to some “ordinary days” coming up.
