I have had this machine for a few years. I love it. I wanted one of the industrial straight stitch machines, but my deformed arthritic fingers just could not deal with the lower bobbin. So I 'settled' for this machine, which has a top-loading bobbin. It is just a dream. I've never had a problem with it. Feel free to ask me questions if you would like.

I have the simpler, mechanical Juki TL 2010Q, which I use for free motion quilting smaller projects. When my fancy Bernina 170 was in for its biennial tune up I used the Juki for my piecing station....and honestly if I had to do it all over again I would use the Juki for my piecing station too!
Unless you need the extra features on the DX, or more than a straight stitch, consider one of the TL models.

I just purchased the TL18 which I understand to be the same model with more accessories. I really like this machine. It is straight stitch basic. I've been using it for bags, totes and handles. There is no "bobbin getting low" light which I do miss. But it's a mechanical machine and so there's that. I did purchase an additional bobbin case and its tension is set up for thicker threads - I believe Fusion 70 is what I use for heavier fabrics. So one bobbin case is good to go for regular thread and the other for heavier threads. I'm not having to deal with tension as I switch between fabrics and projects. It sews very fast and makes the best sewing noise - I can't explain that exactly - but it purrs right along. I also purchased the additional lighting and that has proven to be a great addition for that machine. I purchased from Juki Junkies in FL and their support has been amazing. This is a machine I would gladly buy over again - its just a great machine.

I have had this machine since 2017 and love it. I have not had any issues. I do keep the bobbin area clean with twice yearly vacuuming but that is all I've ever had to do to it. It has the power I need, mostly quilt piecing but I have used it for denim, upholstery fabric and even leather without issue. The button hole system makes perfect button holes. I highly recommend it.
