I just did the same thing. My husband and I run a small Italian Greyhound rescue and a couple of weeks ago, we got in a 6 month old female who needs her back knees completely re-built. (no kneecaps- genetic). So we needed to raise $1500. I decided to raffle a quilt. Doh! My solution was to make a whole cloth quilt with just an applique of an Italian greyhound. I found this fabulous sheet in a discount store for $3.99, matched a sheet for the back and quilted it. It took me a while, but nearly as long as if I'd had to piece the entire top. Just a thought.

Purple Becca, I think you did the right thing by volunteering. And, your idea of delegating is also great. Just think how much you will get to know a new set of helpers and they might even become future quilters. May the whole endeavor be a blessing for you.

for a lady at work that was having surgery--i did the same --for a special gift, i could make a quilt--it just flew out of my mouth LOL...but i made a simple lap quilt with the basic squares--with a light color added in--for everyone to ''sign a square'' ---worked out great !!!

Oh boy you said that, wow, OK have a quilt meeting and have these ladies cut fabric for you, show them how to sew the block you want, and have each one do so many blocks do a scrapy one and the can get fabric for there blocks there doing. Gosh good luck and God bless. Penny

That's how I got started quilting. The kindergarten class needed someone to put together their quilt for the school auction (about 5 years ago) I said I've never quilted but I CAN SEW ....... and so it began! LOL I have made three "community quilts" now and several for family - I need to make on for myself!
