    Since I am colorblind

Will the colorblind glasses work for you? A guild member who is color blind got a pair and now sees color she never could before.

Flowers, floral fabric. I'm sewing for Project Linus, older kids, and trying to make quilts that will appeal to ALL boys. Never realized how many fab designers use flowers as the focal point for their line. Don't gravitate to pastels either.

I’m with those that avoid pastel colors. Everything else though is up for consideration.

Civil War repro fabrics. I love bright happy colors and dull, dark colors just don't work for me.

Kafe and Tula fabrics. I love bright and scrappy but their fabric lines do absolutely nothing for me. Curve still intimidate me. Hand applique or piecing--I can do it but I don't enjoy it. I guess I don't mind having 'idle hands' at times. And lately, I seem to be avoiding a sewing room clean-up.

I used to avoid anything with curves but since trying my hand at the Drunkard's Path pattern, I'm no longer afraid of curves. Also tiny little pieces I used to stay away from but after doing Elizabeth Hartman's Dinosaur pattern, I'm no longer afraid of small, tiny pieces. I don't care for applique as my hands shake too much to do much handwork but I will do applique if it's one of my embroidery designs, it does all the work for me.

I try to do a pattern I've never done before so I keep evolving with my quilt making. I love paper piecing once I tried the Crystal Star by Jinny Beyer.

Interesting question! I avoid yellow fabric because it is my least favorite color. I don't cut triangles, yet. And, I'll say it with confidence, Never use satin for applique. Patterns? I stay away from traditional. Other than that, I'll try anything new.
Quilt show--I entered my first one, and the judges were kind and didn't point out anything I didn't already know. I was a scribe for one judge, and I saw her find a way to be positive on every entry.

My least favorite is paper piecing my brain is just not wired to do it. I keep trying but just end up frustrated so Julie Neimeyer patterns have never been on my to do list although I have a table topper pattern ready to go. I do challenge myself with new ideas and techniques including Hawaiian quilts and handturn quilt patterns. Currently working on Contempo Twist quilt using Quick Curve Ruler and sewing curves is not so scary now, have a couple of more patterns on list of wanting to do. Have done Y seams and partial seams with Krista Moser quilts but really love her newer patterns which she does now without them. Just finished her Crimson Chirstmas quilt pattern.

Ashley, I helped at a local fair--just laying out the quilts for judging and then refolding or putting aside to be hung. But I learned so much!! A judge who is willing to take the time to offer gentle constructive criticism and point out the positive, is worth her weight in fabric!! I enjoy entering the local fairs. The prize money is peanuts but the ribbons sure are pretty. I am always amazed at the wealth of talent in our small community.

I've never had a problem with my vision but I dislike working with black. Also not wild about paper piecing. I love the accuracy but every time I do it I have to retrain my brain!!!
Also longarm machines and entering shows. I have a longarmer and am happy to give her my quilts to finish.
